The 888 NFT project has come under fire again. This time for allegedly lying about its NFT sales. Yesterday, we had reported how Crypto Twitter had slammed the project for the exorbitant mint price of Orbs NFTs. Now, Crypto Twitter has alleged that NFT crypto art collector and influencer, 888 (@crypto888crypto) lied about the project’s sales numbers to get people to buy the NFTs.
888 Project: Did 888 lie about NFT sales?
888 Inner Circle is a tokenized NFT community. The project partners with top NFT projects and creators to offer members airdrops and whitelist access. While the project’s genesis collection includes 8,888 NFTs, it recently launched a new set of 80,000 NFTs.
Now, 888 Orbs of Gala Games’ special NFT collection was reserved for 888 project members. 2455 Orbs went live yesterday, at a starting price of 11.11 ETH, for a 48-hour Dutch auction. But, allegedly, @crypto888crypto lied about the collection’s sales.
“hmm showing 44 sales even though there have been no new mints on the contract,” tweeted Twitter user Shwaz. “Also, the floor is 4.4 eth so that makes no sense. Did @crypto888crypto tweak the sales number to try to trick people into buying at this insane price?”
According to another Twitter user, Wave, the 44 NFTs are the extra ones that were burnt the day before yesterday. “So no… 44 were not minted at 11.11ETH… very slick of them,” they added. “Actually flirting with false advertisement because that 44 number only popped up post dutch auction starting.”
What’s more, there are several allegations of @crypto888crypto harassing women. In fact, an NFT is now live on OpenSea, featuring 888’s tweet asking to trade crypto for nudes.
The NFT’s description reads: “In celebration of the worlds first 11.11ETH Dutch auction to mint a new project, we bring to you 888’s humble beginnings as an Internet simp begging to trade crypto for nudes.”
