The NFT community was divided after Twitter user @BoredSpaceApe purchased Randy Greenstein’s BAYC M1 serum through an unintentional listing.
For the uninitiated, if you do not delist your item manually on OpenSea, the item remains open for order.
What caused the NFT community to split over moral behaviour?
To begin, Twitter user @BoredSpaceApe bought M1 serum at a price of 9 ETH from Randy’s 6-month-old listing. After a few minutes of its purchase, Randy asked for a trade back, saying he had no intention of selling the M1 at a 9 ETH loss.
On the other hand, the buyer @BoredSpaceApe claimed that he had already sold the M1 serum. Additionally, he owned many M1 serums as airdrops for being the owner of numerous Bored Apes. After that, @BoredSpaceApe kept on suggesting to reach out to OpenSea for help.
Subsequently, Randy posted the screenshots on his Twitter account, to which the NFT community had several opinions.
@GAME3ETH wrote, “It is unfortunate buddy, many would have returned it. But she is not in the wrong, and what you are doing is moral kidnapping. which means to use moral value to give pressure to others so that they will do the thing you ask them to do.” Simultaneously, @chevy_pop said, “I’ve had many pleasant interactions with @BoredSpaceApe. You not delisting M1 serum is no responsibility of hers. I’ve listed many things that sold for less than market value due to the irresponsibility of not delisting. This reflects poorly on us, not on her.”
Conversely, there were many comments supporting Randy, such as “While under no obligation, the right thing to do would be to give it back. People misconstrue decentralization. And this is another example. Integrity is too absent in this space. Sorry for the loss”
