Sports lifestyle giant Adidas and Italian luxury fashion house Prada is working on a unique NFT project that will showcase the endless possibilities in the Metaverse. “Adidas for Prada re-source:” aims to bridge the gap for a new community of creators to join the innovative world of web3.
Last December 20221, Adidas’ successful Debut NFT Collection “Into the Metaverse” bagged $23 Million. To reward existing holders, the brand announced that they could redeem one physical merchandise for every NFT they hold. Meanwhile, this collaboration with Prada is another benefit for existing NFT holders.
“Adidas for Prada re-source:” NFT Project
The interactive and dynamic platform will enable the NFT holders to contribute to a large-scale artwork through play. This way, creators would be exposed to the transformative benefits of web3, co-creation, digital ownership and NFTs. This approach is like shooting two birds with one stone because it is interactive and dynamic.
3,000 tiles, 1 canvas. Play. The project facilitates the education of new communities from art, fashion, and beyond. The main incentive is that they will receive a share of the final artwork auction sale in exchange for their creation. So in a way, it adapts Beeple’s style in the record-breaking piece EVERYDAYS: THE FIRST 5000 DAYS, which sold for $69 Million! “Adidas for Prada re-source:” will merge all the artworks into a single massive NFT.

The first-of-its-kind NFT project features creator-owner art in collaboration with digital artist Zach Lieberman. He’s a designer, computer programmer, educator, and artist. Notably, he co-created openFrameworks, an open-source C++ library that enables users to make striking visuals with code. So he is the perfect person to champion how tech meets art.
Commenting on the project, he said, “as an artist, you think about different ways to make something permanent. It’s really magical to think the work we make together through this project will be permanently recorded.”
How Does it Work?
The waitlist opens in two days, January 24! You can secure your spot at https://www.adidas.com/prada-nft.
Basically, anyone can register to submit a photograph using a specially-designed filter. Then, the platform will manipulate it, scramble it up and remove 40% of the image in order to maintain anonymity. The partners will select three thousand individual photographs and then mint them as NFTs for free. The owners will retain ownership so they can sell the NFTs to the secondary market for profit.
Meanwhile, the selected images will then be combined as tiles into one mass patchwork NFT, designed by digital artist and creative coder Zach Lieberman. Then, the partners will auction it on SuperRare and display it as a large-scale installation in Prada and Adidas flagship stores.
This project, which crowdsources submissions from Prada and Adidas’s audiences, is a breath of fresh air in the fashion industry. Usually, the fashion houses just dictate the trends and create the style.
In case you’re wondering about the name of the project: re-source. The team chose this because the project is linked to Prada and Adidas Originals’ recurring Re-Nylon collection.
