The 59th Venice Biennale (La Biennale di Venezia) is here, and this time with tons of cool NFTs on display. The event is set to run from 23 April to 27 November 2022 in the Giardini, at the Arsenale, and at various sites around Venice. Let’s take a closer look at the Venice Biennale NFT exhibition.
NFTs at the Venice Biennale
Basically, the 59th Venice Biennale is an international contemporary art exhibition held between April and November 2022. The Venice Biennale takes place biennially in Venice, Italy, which makes it even more significant. The pre-opening was held on 20, 21 and 22 April, where artistic director Cecilia Alemani curated its central exhibition.
The Venice Biennale NFT exhibition features 200+ amazing NFTs. Among them, Vogue highlights a few noteworthy ones:
The Decentral Art Pavilion
Firstly, you need to check out Chimera by Mpkoz, an Art Blocks artist. This is a series of 6, and all 987 pieces have been minted. Interestingly, every one of the hundreds of thousands of strokes in a Chimera is a parametric equation. Also, every petal of every flower, the stems, the vases, the objects, are all defined mathematically. Cool? I think so too.
The Seven of Swords is one of 78 pieces in Justin Aversano’s ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ collection. In this series, he combines the original black and white photographs into surreal colorful silkscreen paintings. The end products discern the characters, their powers, and also the significance of their presence in this natural world.
Next up, Visceral by Pinhole.Art. This set of art consists of five photographs by Sacha Dean Bïyan taken in Tokyo and Kyoto, Japan. In addition, each of them has an original haiku (Japanese poem) by Japanese poet, Dr. Shunkichi Baba. Besides the Venice Biennale NFT exhibition, you can also find the collection on Rarible, where it holds a floor price of $776 and a $1.4m market cap.
Not forgetting the other venues
Of course, we need to feature ‘Observation’ by Rafaël Rozendaal. He has so many pieces worthy of the Venice Biennale NFT exhibition. This particular piece is an attempt to communicate the visceral through visual simplicity, to convey feeling through a universal language of color, form, and motion.
Shavonne Wong’s ‘The Kiss’ proudly represents Singapore in the Venice Biennale NFT exhibition with this 1/1 animated NFT. It essentially represents the infinite possibilities of love in our world. This 3D virtual model creator is one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30, and also seen on Vogue Singapore’s first NFT cover. By the way, Idris Elba’s first move into the NFT space is through Shavonne’s Love is Love NFT collection.
Social Sacrifice is an algorithmic body of work exploring the schooling dynamics exhibited by a school of A.I. fish encountering a group of predator fish. The artwork blends perfectly with its audio design, curated by artist and musician Don Diablo. The collection of 95 is now on sale on Aorist for $2,999 each, with 12 pieces already off the market.
